Wendigo

A wendigo is a cervid-like humanoid monster. They are often used as foot-soldiers and grunts by the Coven.

Description[]

Wendigos are animalistic creatures who are seen in the employ of the Coven. Unlike their vampire teammates, they are very primal in nature, rarely speaking and never dealing with complicated equipment or technology. They are instead loyal foot-soldiers who are valued for their impressive physical abilities, being strong enough to lift vehicles over their heads. They also come with sharp claws and fangs; a few have antlers on their heads as well, but most have theirs broken off already.

Several wendigos are part of Mira's squad, which ambushes Kim Wu in Seattle. Many of the wendigos are defeated by Kim Wu and Yeouiju's fiery teamwork.

Mira appears with more wendigos when the Coven attacks Jago in the countryside, this time bringing a whole horde of them. Jago kills many of the wendigos, but one of them manages to pierce his shoulder with its antlers and throw him on the ground. However, Jago is saved when Tusk appears on a motorcycle and slices the heads off of all the remaining wendigos and vampires.

Trivia[]

A wendigo is a mythological evil spirit from the folklore of the First Nations Algonquian tribes based in the Great Lakes and Maritime areas of North America. While in folklore they were mostly thought of as cannibalistic humans, pop culture has added cervid iconography such as antlers to make them more monstrous.
The idea of a character with wendigo attributes was a highly-requested addition to the Killer Instinct roster on the official Ultra Combo Forums. Their appearance in the comics may be a nod to this.
