Killer Instinct #1 is the first of the six issues of the rebooted Killer Instinct series. It was released on September of 2017.
Synopsis[]
The Shadow Lord Gargos has been defeated! But the battle to save humankind from his Astral invasion has taken a terrible toll on the Earth. Our world lies in ruin, and a sinister new power called the Coven has risen from the ashes, vying with the megacorporation Ultratech to rule the shattered nations. The heroes Kim Wu and Jago-their Astral powers weakened by their devastating war against Gargos-must band together with the scattered remnants of the Night Guard to forge a pathway into the Astral Plane. Here, in the birthplace of The Shadow Lord and The Guardians, festers the secret malevolence that threatens to destroy them all...and enslave the world forever.
Plot[]
The world lies in ruin after Gargos' defeat. Kim Wu protects a group of homeless people from monsters and hoodlums within the ruined city of Seattle, but the appearance of Yeouiju during combat frightens them and they force her out of their camp.
Elsewhere, Kan-Ra ponders the decaying of the Earth, and deduces that yet another evil is afoot.
Kim Wu continues to wander a world left devastated in the wake of Gargos' invasion, only to discover that Mira and the Coven are hunting down the chosen guardian of the Earth. Kim Wu fights and flees the ambush, only for Yeouiju to reveal that his powers are being drained by some unknown force. He then disappears, leaving Kim Wu alone.
