An Izzik's full appearance
An Izzik is a thin blue monster that serves as one of Gargos' most common minions.
Description[]
Izziks are smallish humanoid creatures, standing about five feet tall at the highest, with thin and emaciated frames. They have pale blue skin, clawed hands and feet, and digitigrade legs. Their eyes glow bright white and they have two horns on their heads, similar to their master Gargos. They are usually seen wielding tridents with curved prongs.
Izziks are very subservient to Gargos, rushing into battle for his sake with little thought for their own lives. They have jittery and overly-sensitive body language when they appear in Gargos' intro cutscene.
Killer Instinct (2013)[]
Izziks, along with Dretches, can be summoned to aid Gargos in battle by using his Summon move. Once on the stage, the Izzik can be commanded by Gargos to behave in different ways:
- Creep Mode - Izzik slowly walks towards the opponent and periodically stabs at them with its trident.
- Cover Mode - Izzik slowly backs away from the opponent to take cover near Gargos.
- Kill Mode - Izzik performs an attack where he spins his trident around wildly, hitting multiple times.
An Izzik is destroyed when hit by the opponent two separate times. Gargos can also grab the Izzik with Devil's Divide, and from there perform several actions based on the button pressed:
- Sadistic Lob - (Up) - Gargos lobs Izzik in a wide arc.
- Sadistic Hurl - (Forward) - Gargos throws Izzik horizontally.
- Sadistic Appetite - (Back) - Gargos absorbs Izzik to regain some Instinct Meter.
- Sadistic Intent - (Down) - Gargos lets go of Izzik.
- Cruel Inspiration - (P) - Gargos punches Izzik, instantly recharging its Kill Mode attack.
Trivia[]
- Upon Gargos' reveal, there was confusion about whether Izzik and Dretch were single characters or an entire species. Designer Adam "Keits" Heart clarified that the latter is true.
- Izzik and Dretch are named after Iron Galaxy developer Issac "Delriatch" Torres.
- The word "izzik" means "to glow" in Hungarian. Whether this was intentional or not is unknown.
- In a Gargos mirror-match, Player 2's Izzik will be yellow in color instead of blue. This helps differentiate whose minions are whose.
