The Canyon or Canyon Bridge (also called the Desert Bridge) is a stage in the original Killer Instinct. It serves as Chief Thunder's combat stage.

Description[]

As the name implies, the stage is a large canyon with a simple wooden bridge suspended over it. The stage is either set during sunset or sunrise, as the sun is mostly shown with a red-orange sky. In the arcade version, blackbirds can be seen flying through the skies.

Music[]

(NOTE: The following information is based off the Killer Cuts version only)

Chief Thunder's classic KI1 theme, "Oh Yeah", is composed and arranged by Graeme Norgate. It is a EDM-based trance track complete with a didgeridoo, as well as some native tribal chanting and shouts. Overall, this song has a kind of nature-scenery-like rhythm that clearly invokes a Native American style of music.

The song also features Ken Lobb (game designer for KI, and Thunder's voice actor) on main vocals.

OST Lyrics[]

Trivia[]

  • Despite its layout, this stage does not have a Knockoff/Stage Ultra.
  • Thunder's classic theme has a different sound in both versions of the game when compared to the Killer Cuts version.
  • In the SNES version of Killer Instinct, this stage appears in the endings for both Thunder and Spinal.
    • Interestingly, both the arcade and SNES versions of Thunder's ending shows Spinal rising above Eagle's grave. In the original universe, it was teased that either Spinal killed Eagle or that he had something to do with his disappearance.
      • This was referenced in the 2013 reboot, where one of Thunder's endings details how Eagle's death was "blamed on a 600-year-old immortal", meaning Spinal. However, this was canonically not true.
